After competing internationally in Counter-Strike since 2006, the Detroit Renegades are announcing today the departure of Yaman ‘yam’ Ergenekon.
Yam is part of the original CS:GO roster, his motivation and leadership skills have always been the driving factor to the overall success of the team. This was most notable when yam made the decision to leave Australia for North America to challenge himself and his roster to compete against the best teams in the world.
As a fan of esports, Yam had a unique and aggressive approach to Counter-Strike, which he expressed best through his AWP and in-game leading. Whether it was being the first team announced on E-League Season I, having to miss playoffs for ESL Pro League Season 4 to qualify for the Asian Minor Championship, or making history placing second at DreamHack Winter 2016 in Sweden – Yam continued to be a mentor, leader, and friend.
We want to thank Yam for his dedication, commitment and leadership to the Renegades organization over these years. The decision to return home to Australia was mutually agreed upon and team management will continue to support Yam. You’ve helped build a legacy. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Thank you, Yam.
