With four maps remaining, the Renegades have secured their tickets to Denmark for the ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals! Other results in week three of the month-long league combined with a 12-6 (11-1-3-3) record were enough to guarantee the boys a trip to Odense in early December for a shot at $250,000.
The qualification is a massive achievement for the team, who in just two months have managed a playoffs finish at StarLadder’s StarSeries & i-League Season 6 in Kiev and a solid online record across both the EPL and ECS seasons.
Newest Renegades Sean “Gratisfaction” Kaiwai (1.06 rating, +26 kill difference, 195 AWP kills [2nd in EPL]) & Jay “Liazz” Tregillgas (1.05 rating, +10 kill difference, 8/9 clutches [4th in EPL]) have well and truly settled in to the NA region, while Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad (1.18 rating, +23 kill difference, 84 assists [1st in EPL]) leads the way for RNG in rating and kill count.
The most unexpected trend, though; Aaron “AZR” Ward (1.07 rating, +7 kill difference) has improved upon his previous season despite taking upon the captaincy in the team - a role that historically impacts the individual performance of the IGL. Justin “jks” Savage (1.04 rating, +30 kill difference, 8/8 clutches [100% attempted]) continues his ever-dependable form for RNG over the 18 maps played thus far.
The boys will finish the season against NRG Esports and ex-Renegade Nifty’s Team Envy after their next offline event at IEM Chicago in mid-November, with the finals held in Odense on December 4-9. There’s still plenty to play for, with position in the league vital for the finals group stage. Information for the Pro League Finals including ticket sales is available here.
